A Summer Acadia Elopement in the Lupine and on the Cliffs
K and M reached out to me just two months before their planned wedding date - that they decided on just days prior! In those two short months we planned the perfect Acadia elopement for them! We started the evening in a beautiful field full of lupine in full bloom and ended their day on the cliffs overlooking the ocean for a very sweet ceremony with their chosen family.
In our planning calls together, I could already tell how fun K and M’s elopement would be. Every conversation was filled with laughter and silliness and so much excitement. They knew for sure they wanted to do their ceremony at Otter Cliff because they got engaged there a couple years prior. But they were open to hearing ideas for some one-on-one time prior and trusted me completely in choosing something that would be fun, beautiful, and very Maine. I was so excited to finally have the opportunity to shoot an elopement in a lupine field in Acadia!
Leading up to their day, the lupine were looking absolutely perfect and we were all so excited - until we saw a big storm coming through 2 days prior to their wedding day. I knew we were rolling the dice on whether or not the lupine would survive the storm, so I quickly brainstormed some back up options. Thankfully, though, the lupine hung on and were literally perfect on their wedding day!
K and M hung out in the lupine, chatted and laughed. They took the time to really just enjoy their time together in gorgeous Acadia - a place that has become very special to them and now holds two important milestones in their lives.
After traipsing amongst the lupine, we headed over to Otter Cliff for their ceremony. We met their officiant, Pam Curativo, and K’s best friend who is like a sister to her (and her boyfriend) there. M guided us to the exact spot on Otter Cliff that he proposed so that they could exchange vows where he asked K to be his wife. As silly and lighthearted as the earlier part of their day was, their ceremony was the perfect counterpart - sweet, sincere, romantic; we all had tears in our eyes (or rolling down our cheeks for some of us!).
After the most beautiful ceremony, we got time to play on the cliffs with their friends! K and M danced, joked around some more, chatted excitedly with their friends, and just rode the high of finally being married. We ended the evening watching the sky light up with color from the sunset and did a little sparkler celebration, but with lupine! Then they made their way through the woods, back to their cars, and off to dinner to celebrate some more.
One of my most fun elopements to date, and we planned it all in just two months! If you’re wanting to elope on a short timeline, don’t be intimidated - it’s entirely possible and it will be the most perfect day ever!
