Your Acadia Elopement: Beyond The Ceremony
Slow Down + Be Present
Some of my favorite moments happen when nothing "big" is happening at all. Building in time to slow down and simply be together often becomes one of the most meaningful parts of the day.
Some ideas to lean into this magical, intentional slow time together:
Sunrise coffee and breakfast picnic
Private vows before the ceremony
Writing letters to each other
Sharing a favorite meal
Campfire together after sunset
Playing your favorite board game
Or literally anything else you enjoying doing in your downtime together! I love when couples make their days really personal, so feel free to add whatever you like to your day!
Get Out On The Water
You're choosing Acadia for your wedding day because of it's incredible landscape and proximity to the ocean - so take advantage of all it has to offer! Seeing the park from the water is incredibly special and is one of my absolute favorite ways to experience Acadia. An added bonus - it'll always be less crowded on the water than it is on trails!
Ways to experience Acadia from the water:
Private sailing charter
Canoeing
Kayaking
Lobster boat excursion
Sunset cruise
See Acadia From A New Perspective
Celebrate Well
You’ve seen the iconic dramatic cliff-over-ocean Acadia photos, but there are so many other ways to see Acadia (don’t worry, though, we’ll definitely visit the cliffs if you want to!). Some of my favorites are:
Scenic flight over Mount Desert Island
Cadillac sunrise
Beech Mountain sunset
Hike to a favorite overlook
Carriage road bike ride
Think of your elopement as a time to add experiences that you might not otherwise! This is a special occasion!
Your ceremony may only last a few minutes. Building in a celebration afterward (or before!) gives you time to soak it all in. Celebrations many couples consider are:
Luxury picnic
Private chef dinner
Lobster bake
Champagne toast
Small cake cutting
Favorite restaurant reservation (maybe even in a private room)
Make It Uniquely Yours
I know I’ve said this already, but it bears repeating - this is your day and I want you to look back and remember it as a collection of things that you love doing and experiencing together. I don’t want it to just be a pretty pinterest board (although I promise we’ll get pretty pictures, no matter the activities!). Really think about what you enjoy doing as a couple and incorporate it into your day! I don’t care how nontraditional or “not wedding-y” it is! The whole point of eloping is leaning into celebrating your marriage your own way, so go ahead and lean alllllllll the way in!
Some things my couples have done:
Handfasting ceremony
First dance on a cliff
Pizza on a dock
Family snowshoeing
Donuts at sunrise
Reading letters from family
Polar plunge
Matching tattoos
Favorite board game at Airbnb
Bringing cultural traditions
Recommended Vendors
Sailing Charters
Scenic Flights
Luxury Picnics
Reception/Private Celebration Restaurants
Florals
Hair & Makeup
Not sure what fits you? That's completely normal. Most couples don't have a clear vision when they first reach out. Once I learn more about you, I'll help create a day that reflects your relationship, priorities, and version of adventure. I just wanted to share some ideas to start opening your minds to all the different possibilities for your elopement in Acadia!
