Why Choose an Acadia National Park Elopement?
Okay, so let me just start off by acknowledging that I’m biased - my husband and I got married in Acadia in 2021 :) If you want to hear about our intimate wedding, you can read about it here.
Now that I got that disclaimer out of the way, let’s talk about what makes Acadia such a great place to get married.
It’s incredibly accessible! Do you want sweeping views, but you’re not much of a hiker? No problem! Some of the most breathtaking views in the park don’t require any hiking at all. Of course, there are glorious views on strenuous hikes as well, but really you can enjoy the splendor of Acadia without hiking at all.
Every season has something different (and beautiful) to offer. Summer - temperate weather and sunny skies (for the most part…), Spring - moody rain, Winter - ice-covered rocks and snow, Fall - gorgeous foliage. There’s so much beauty to be found in every season!
So many elopement-day activities to choose from. Hike any one of hundreds of trails, from easy to very difficult. Kayak or canoe on one of the many ponds and lakes or in the ocean if you’re feeling extra adventurous. Rent a boat and sail around the picturesque islands. Take a private flight over Mount Desert Island and experience the beauty from the sky. Have a picnic on a beach or mountaintop. Watch the sun rise or set at iconic locations. Jump in the water in your wedding dress. So many fun options!
You’ll have access to great food and drink options. Unlike many national parks, Acadia abuts multiple charming towns with great restaurants (and lots of catering options). You could go iconic-Maine with a lobster bake or lobster rolls, or you could go upscale chic.
Beautiful accommodations abound. Similar to the food and drink options, you’ll also have access to TONS of different types of sweet accommodations - from camping to glamping in a yurt or canvas tent to cabins to mansions. Whatever vibe you’re looking for, the area surrounding Acadia has it.
I could go on and on, but I think those 5 points drive home why I think Acadia is one of the best places to elope for someone who wants to elope in nature! Whether you’re wanting mountain views, ocean views or forest views; a beach elopement, a cliffs elopement or a secluded pine elopement; a rustic vibe, an outdoorsy vibe or a glamorous vibe - Acadia and Mount Desert Island have got you covered!
